Encounter Methods
Overworld Encounters
Pokemon roam freely in the overworld. Walk up to them to start a battle. Different Pokemon appear based on time of day, weather, and terrain.
Mass Outbreaks
Random mass outbreaks spawn large groups of a single species. Check your map for outbreak icons — great for shiny hunting with increased odds.
Tera Raid Battles
Tera Raid crystals appear across the map. Defeat Terastallized Pokemon in co-op battles to catch them with unique Tera Types. Higher star ratings offer rarer Pokemon.
Picnics & Eggs
Set up a picnic with two compatible Pokemon to receive eggs. Sandwiches with Egg Power boost egg production rates. Great for breeding specific natures and IVs.
Tips for Finding Rare Pokemon
- 1. Make sandwiches — Sandwich powers like Encounter Power boost spawn rates for specific types. A Lv. 3 Encounter Power dramatically increases rare spawns.
- 2. Check time of day — Some Pokemon only appear at night or during specific weather. Rotate between morning, day, and night for different spawns.
- 3. Use the Let's Go feature — Send your Pokemon ahead to auto-battle. This clears common spawns and forces new ones to appear, increasing chances of finding rare Pokemon.
- 4. Watch for mass outbreaks — Outbreaks refresh when you enter and exit cities. They offer significantly boosted shiny odds after defeating 60+ Pokemon.
- 5. Explore Area Zero — The Great Crater contains many rare and powerful Pokemon, including Paradox forms exclusive to each game version.
